How to Embed Social Media Posts on Your Website

Post embeds are probably one of the most under-utilized tools in social media. You may be asking, why don’t I just copy and paste the text from that Tweet or put that image that I used on Facebook right into my website? There are many reasons to embed social media posts, like supporting your content with visual examples all while extending your social reach.

Here are just a few more reasons why you should embed social posts on you website and blog:

  • A great way to cross-pollinate platforms to direct traffic to your social media
  • Adds social proof and credibility to your posts
  • Extends your social reach
  • Creates more value and substance
  • Boosts engagement on your social posts

Where can I Embed Social Media Posts?

I love using social posts on testimonial pages because of the sense of credibility they add, but they can be used for other things as well. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Testimonial and about pages for social proof
  • Blog posts to reinforce a point you’re trying to make
  • An alternative way for people to get in touch on your contact page

Important to Note Before You Start

When pasting the embed codes into your pages or posts, be sure that you’re using the HTML text editor on your website. For WordPress users, be sure to switch to the Text tab when editing the content (not the Visual tab).

Simply search for the social posts you would like to use by searching for a URL, keyword or hashtag, then drag the posts onto the story timeline. I never thought about doing this.. gives them to your website and your social media so that they are on both.. plus I can move some comments I am getting on my books to my website like you come and look like what you were talking about from a customer instead of the usual testimonial.. its just picking a piece and starting to do it..

    • True, Connie! Let the world know how fantastic you are with social proof!

My blog uses adsense, so can i use the embeded youtube video in my blog post? Will it come under copyright acts?

    • As long as you’ve embedded their video and you haven’t uploaded their content to your own channel to generate ad revenue. But when in doubt, review the YouTube and Adsense policies.
